Share the Joy: It's Summer!

Image
It’s summer. In my book, that’s reason enough for JOY. "Fleeting Wings of Summer" created by MeriMagic on Polyvore.com What’s your JOY source? To play along, 1. do a post that tells and shows us what gives you joy. 2. Capture the URL of the specific post and paste it into the Mr. Linky box along with your name. 3. Then click the NEXT box (or the link) to choose an image from the post to hook to Mr. Linky's list so that people are enticed to visit your blog. If you just can't get it to work, send me the info and I'll try to link it for you. 4. Visit other players -- as many as possible -- and let their joy infect you. Leave them a comment, because everyone enJOYS getting positive feedback. Let's start an epidemic of joy!

Here’s my first effort from Vivienne McMaster’s Montage course on video-making. Unfortunately, I’m having trouble retrieving my smartphone videos, so this one is a photo video. Enjoy!

Postcards from Paradise: King Tut

Image
Can I share with you a trip through time? Here's a glimpse of some of  the artifacts of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun, discovered by Howard Carter in 1922 in Tut’s tomb on the floor of the Valley of the Kings. Tutankhamun was born about 1341 BC and died a short 18 years later in 1323 BC. He was a pharaoh of the 18 th dynasty, son of the pharaoh Akhenaten. The exhibition of antiquities is by National Geographic. It's on display at Pacific Science Center in Seattle (through January 6, 2013), its last stop before returning to Egypt, never – it is said – to travel again.  And, just in case you need a little amusement, here's Steve Martin's take on the whole King Tut phenom (via Saturday Night Live and You Tube. . . )

Hidden Message

As you can see, I’ve been at it again. In this one, there’s a hidden message. . . Well, at least obscured. Will you heed it? "Forgotten Words" created by MeriMagic on Polyvore.com

Share the Joy: Family

Life’s been a bit of a circus this week. I’m about to leave for a four-day spree of JOY with my mom, her sisters, and various cousins. I was so focused on preparations for leaving that I almost forgot to Share the Joy with you. "Confetti" created by MeriMagic on Polyvore.com I’d say that has me feeling like a dumb blonde, except I’ve changed my hair color. How are you sharing your Joy this week? To play along, 1. do a post that tells and shows us what gives you joy. 2. Capture the URL of the specific post and paste it into the Mr. Linky box along with your name. 3. Learning to Take Credit for Jobs Well Done

One thing I’m trying to learn to do is celebrate my accomplishments instead of saying, “Ah shucks, no big deal.” So, all humility aside, My “What Do Women Want?” piece Won second place in the House of Set-acular Sets Visual Journal competition. I'm proud of myself - for entering for winning but most of all, for finding a way to include fun  and creative expression in every day.

Well? What Do You Have to Say for Yourself?

Sometimes we choose to live lives that are a thousand times too small for us.  We wear a cloak of invisibility.  We let others bask in the limelight we've earned. "Listen" - created by MeriMagic on Polyvore, June 2012 Do you quicken when you hear these words?  Feel them burn you like a branding iron?   You can choose anew when you acknowledge that it is, after all, your choice.

Share the Joy: Little Reminders

Image
I was browsing pictures to find inspiration  because I was feeling over-busy and disconnected from JOY. Luckily, even a small reminder can reconnect me with those feelings of contented excitement. Bottles, Santos, shells, the sun bursting through the haze. You name it.   What gives you JOY? To play along, 1. do a post that tells and shows us what gives you joy. 2.
